What chronic inflammation looks like….

Chronic inflammation goes hand and hand with postural distortion.

The framework for our bodies is our bones. When there is a distortion it means that waste products generated by daily use are able to build, causing inflammation.

Postural Distortion

June 2019

Client presents with serious chronic neck and back pain; history of scoliosis.

(Client is unaware that they have INFLAMMATION.)

If we look at the first picture, taken in June of 2019, we see the shoulders of Anna distorted. We can look upwards to Anna’s head and see a distortion in the direct line coming from the center of the back and up the neck. Also we can see a neck that looks as though it is “bunched up” and lacking a telescoping-reach for the head.

Improved Posture

January 2020

Same person 6 months later reports, “An incredible feeling of freedom in my neck and back!”

Picture number 2 is taken in January of 2020, six months after Anna had been receiving Core Alignment Therapy at Bradbury Massage, and doing a simple set of exercises which I showed her involving push-ups (which she began on her knees), and leg-circles to strengthen the “core muscles” of her hip flexors and abdomen. Notice that in this second picture that Anna’s shoulders are even.

Shoulders

  • Notice the inflammation in the back and distortion of the shoulders in the first picture.
  • Notice the leanness of the skin, and evenness of the shoulder in the second picture.

Neck

  • Notice the compression, subtle curvature and inflammation in the neck on the first picture.
  • Notice the straightness, thinness and different length of the neck in the second picture.

Head Position

  • Although not the best angle, there is a significant bump at the base of Anna’s neck which moves the head awkwardly forward in June.
  • After 6 months of treatment, the head is more directly aligned with the rest of the spine, and the bump at the base of the neck has mostly disappeared!
